When the KTM 1190 Adventure R was released itâs off-road ability was heralded, yet the 990 is still held as the legend. Something about all of that doesnât seem quite right. We took an 1190 Adventure R, fitted some Mitas E10âs and headed to Southern Portugal with a three man test crew to see if years of development made a better bike.
then i would totally recommend the KTM 1190 adventure, I also test rode the Super tenere and the tiger 1200, and the multistrada, gs 1200 and a whole host of others. the KTM trounces each one in lots of different departments, the fact that they are changing things as the model progresses shows commitment, i just wish they would readily own up
KTM claims 150 horsepower from the 1195cc 75° V-Twin powering the Adventure. Calculating a pessimistic 15% drivetrain power loss (-27.5 hp) puts the LC8-based engine well above the Tiger Explorerâs 111 hp and in the neighborhood of the Multistradaâs 131 hp â a promising start for the new bike.
